Tibetan Education Action

བོད་ཀྱི་ཤེས་ཡོན་རྒྱ་སྐྱེད་ལས་འགུལ་ཚོགས་པ།

Tibetan Education Action (TEA) is a registered, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, created in 1995 in support of an array of Tibetan cultural preservation and aid projects. Our initial projects included building the first elementary school in Tingri, Tibet, and bringing medical care to remote villages in Western Tibet. Our organization has worked on projects to create meaningful support for Tibetan education, arts, medicine, monastic traditions, and scholarships for Tibetan youth. Based in Minneapolis, MN, USA, we work with organizations in India, Nepal and Tibet.

Our Mission:

Tibetan Education Action is committed to Tibetan cultural preservation, creating meaningful support via projects in Tibetan education, Tibetan arts, Tibetan medicine, Tibetan Buddhist monastic traditions, and scholarships for Tibetan youth.

We work to share Tibetan culture via programming with visiting Tibetan medical doctors from Men Tse Khang, guest speakers ranging from former Tibetan political prisoners, well known Buddhist scholars, visiting monks and nuns from the great Tibetan lineage, to Tibetan performers, artists and filmmakers.

We seek to foster connections between communities, and are continuously inspired by the compassionate principles of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, whose emphasis on interfaith harmony has led to many TEA-sponsored interfaith events.

Who We Are

About Us

Tibetan Education Action (TEA) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization created in 1995 by Thupten and Nancy Dadak as a vehicle for an array of Tibetan education and cultural preservation projects. TEA’s initial project successfully built the first school to serve village children in Tingri, Tibet, near Mount Everest. Since 1995, TEA has worked collaboratively on projects supporting Tibetan education, Tibetan traditional medicine, Tibetan Buddhist monastic life, and Tibetan arts.

What We Do

Our Programs

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota,  TEA currently works with Tibetan communities in India & Nepal, and creates educational and outreach events in the USA. We organize Tibetan concerts and cultural events, teachings by visiting Buddhist high lamas, Monastery & Nunnery Sacred Arts tours, interfaith events bringing together diverse communities, traditional Tibetan medicine engagements and consultations with Tibetan doctors, the Maitreya Project Buddhist Relic Tour,  and speakers ranging from former Tibetan political prisoners to artists and filmmakers, to name a few.

What You Can Do

Volunteer or Donate

TEA relies on donations to fund its work, and often seeks volunteers to help with individual projects.

Organizations, churches and community groups are welcome to inquire about TEA events, speakers and educational opportunities.
